On Monday, the Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit paid tribute to Pope Francis, who passed away at the age of 88, describing him as a paragon of religious tolerance and a symbol of unity among people.

In remarks reported by Kuwait’s KUNA news agency, Gheit highlighted the Pope’s unwavering commitment to peace and coexistence, calling his bold stance an enduring model of harmony and mutual understanding. “The courageous position of Pope Francis in advocating for peace and peaceful coexistence will remain a beacon of religious tolerance and unity among humanity,” Gheit stated.

Gheit further emphasized the Pope’s attentiveness to the crisis in Gaza, noting that Francis consistently urged both parties to cease hostilities and pursue peaceful resolutions. This advocacy underscored his broader dedication to humanitarian issues worldwide, including his compassion for refugees fleeing conflict irrespective of their religious or national backgrounds.

“The Pope’s stance on refugees—offering unconditional support to those seeking safety from violence and death—has been an inspiration to countless individuals across the globe,” Gheit added.

As the international community mourns the passing of a deeply influential leader, reflections on Pope Francis’s legacy continue to evoke respect for his principles of inclusivity, compassion, and justice.
